Introduction

TWB Finishing operates a 32,000 sq foot factory and produces a wide range of solutions to industry for anti-corrosion and high-performance protection materials.

The Brief

We were contacted by the client on the recommendation of another client who operates within the same industry. As an energy intensive industry, TWB Finishings were coming out of a long-term low-cost contract and suffered from the dramatic rises in energy costs following the re-emergence of industry post-COVID. Their annual costs rose in excess of £200,000.

We immediately set about applying for the Government’s Business Energy Relief Scheme to attract credits against the client’s account and then applied to extricate the client from onerous contracts to move them into more sensible rates. 

The Outcome

By utilising another company that the client operates, we moved the contracts out from one business into another to remove the high-cost obligations. We then searched our wide range of suppliers and carried out a competitive tendering process to determine the best value, fixed-term offer for each of the client’s meters. 

The Conclusion

We moved each meter across to the most suitable supplier and systematically managed the close down and settlement of old accounts and the establishment of each new account, including online billing, meter reading and account management. 

The main factory electricity costs came down in excess of £140,000 per annum. Alongside this we move three separate gas meters into a common supplier to lower aggregated costs and simplify costs for daily standing charges. 

We’ll then look to migrate the client’s contracts across to the original company when we think the commercial environment is suitable.

Savings / Year

We’ve achieved combined savings per annum of approaching £170,000 for the client across five electricity and gas supplies, which helped salvage the client’s profitability during what has been an extremely challenging time.
